Parsons Brincker Subsidiary
Employs Brava!
and Net-It
Central from Informative Graphics to Offer Complete
Online Collaboration
PHOENIX, Ariz., Sept. 4, 2001 -- Informative
Graphics Corp. - a leader in Web Publishing and
Collaboration Solutions for drawings, documents and
images - proudly announces the deployment of its Brava!™
WebKit view and markup component by Company39, a
subsidiary of Parsons Brinckerhoff, Inc., the ninth
largest design firm in the U.S. Company39 will offer
Brava! WebKit as part of its ProjectSolve Web
Collaboration Product/Service.
ProjectSolve allows each project team to consolidate
and coordinate information and activities from anywhere
in the world using simple yet powerful tools and an
Internet connection. The standard features within
ProjectSolve suite a wide range of projects; however
they can be configured and customized to meet the
specific needs of any project or customer. Brava! WebKit
is being used to power ProjectSolve's online view and
markup collaboration functions.
Chosen by more ASPs and trade exchanges than any
other product of its kind, Informative Graphics®' Brava!
WebKit is the de facto standard for view and markup
collaboration on the Web. The only truly `Net-based,
thin client collaboration solution, Brava! WebKit
enables design or documentation changes to be managed
over the Web in the form of Brava! redline overlays,
simply by using a standard browser. Documents and
drawings will be stored on Company39's servers, or on
users' on-site servers, and delivered to subscriber
desktops in a small Java applet.
Since Brava! WebKit does not transfer the actual file
to the client for display, it is a secure online
collaboration tool for design, supply and project
information over the Web. Brava! WebKit also honors
existing security measures, operating seamlessly with
firewall and encryption software. In addition, users can
take advantage of Changemarks® sequential redline review
and also create hyperlinks to other drawing and document
location URLs. Brava! WebKit's easy-to-use redlining
functionality and efficient architecture have made it
the definitive choice for ASPs.
Brava! WebKit's ease-of-setup and inherent stability
were so solid, in fact, that a competing solution was
dropped in favor of deploying Informative Graphics'
technology instead.
Net-It™ Central provides Company39 the ability to let
users quickly and easily publish documents,
spreadsheets, presentations and other files into a
viewable, non-editable format without any manual
conversion process. Historically, organizations
providing document sharing capability were limited to
PDF conversion or leaving the document in its native
format. Both options present challenges.
Leaving a document in its native format leaves it open
to unauthorized editing by anyone allowed access to the
document, not to mention the requirement to have the
same version of the authoring application already
installed on each desktop. Net-It Central offered
Company39 a much higher level of security, while still
providing authorized users easy access to information.
Translating to PDF, while eliminating some of the
editing concerns, still involves a conversion process,
requires the installation of a plug-in on the end user
desktop, and can't deliver large documents quickly in
the Web environment.
Net-It Central solves these challenges by dynamically
converting these documents using a patented process
called jDocs™ Automation. Files published using jDocs
Automation are viewable, navigable and searchable using
any browser - on any client desktop - via a small Java
applet and require no plug-ins or other software to be
installed.
"Brava! and Net-It Central give us the best solution
for document conversion, compatibility and markup,"
commented Doug Eberhard, Company39 Chief Technology
Officer. "Coupled with our ProjectSolve workflow and
notification features, we will be able to provide an
integrated document collaboration solution over the
Web."
"As a subsidiary of Parsons Brinckerhoff, Company39
is a very prominent and important win for us," said Gary
Heath, Informative Graphics CEO and President. "The
collaborative needs of organizations like Company39 are
very serious, and addressing those with thin,
easy-to-use and reliable applications such as Brava!
WebKit and Net-It Central are key focuses for
Informative Graphics. To have them come onboard as one
of our valued ASP partners and displace another solution
in favor of our technology verifies everything we've
said about Brava! WebKit and validates all our efforts
and direction with our collaborative product offerings."
