Informative Graphics Corp. Acquires Net-It™ Central from Allegis™ Corp.

Popular Web Publishing Solution to Complement Brava!™ Web Collaboration

Phoenix, Ariz. August 7, 2000 - Informative Graphics Corporation, the industry leader in the field of Web-based viewing with markup collaboration, proudly announced today the acquisition of the Net-It Central product line from Allegis™ Corporation.

Informative Graphics® will continue to support, distribute and further enhance Net-It Central. Net-It Central provides an elegant and easy-to-use solution for publishing a wide variety of office documents within intranet or Web deployments, and removes the on-going involvement of a Web master to update and publish new content. Completely self-managed, Net-It Central creates powerful intranet and extranet sites that let users instantly publish, read, search - even subscribe to - the business documents they need, with any browser, file server or Web server.

Informative Graphics plans to exploit the technology in Brava! and MYRIAD 3D, with Net-It Central to provide a Web platform for publishing, visualization and collaboration of documents, images, drawings and 3D models. 

"End users have needed to create Web-targeted files in parallel to the traditional word processing, spreadsheet, illustration and other files used for primary content creation in the LAN-based, client-server environment," said Rita Knox, Gartner Vice President and Research Director. "The shortcomings of this "parallel creation" requirement include: duplicative work; multiple repository management; file synchronization difficulties; staff and training costs; and no guarantee that different versions of the same information are consistent. Solutions that support "create once, output many" are key to matching the web-time demands." 

With Net-It Central, users of desktop applications, such as Microsoft Office or WordPerfect, can publish the native files to a document Web site with one simple operation. Documents are delivered for viewing through a thin Java applet, enabling office format documents to be reviewed regardless of the operating system platform or whether the corresponding desktop application is installed. 

Net-It Central provides a proven departmental publishing solution that enjoys a customer base of more than 900 companies - many of which are Global 1000 - including internet deployments with dot com companies such as Bricsnet Corporation, an Application Service Provider for the AEC market.
